Wednesday 28th September – Penang to Hong Kong

Our itinerary hasn’t turned out to be the most logical one in the world – we have criss-crossed Malaysia a lot and today we will fly over to Hong Kong.

We went out for our final Roti Bom at Kahleels, met Tracy & the kids.  Emma & Noah dumped one another & got back together several times; in between Emma’s diva strops and announcing “Well I’m gonna marry Vaughn now”.   I had two cans of 100 Plus – better hangover cure than Fat Coke!

We set off for the airport, checked in and soon boarded for our flight to Hong Kong – we were very sad to be saying goodbye but also excited to be going to Hong Kong again.

The flight hit quite a bit of turbulence on the way but we landed in one piece.  At baggage reclaim we noticed a typhoon 3 warning was in place.  It seemed pretty windy as we were taxied into the city.

Our Guest House is on the floor of a residential tower block, we have a twin room with a mattress on the floor for the girls.  Their mattress is about 18 inches across and then there’s a single bed either side – that is the total width of the room.  Paul’s feet hang off his bed.  We have a 4ft square space to put the suitcases – it’s cosy, but it’s cheap! And also in a great location.

We checked on the wifi and the level 3 warning means it’s windy now – there’s a typhoon in the vicinity (Typhoon Nesat which is that nasty one that killed about 20 people in the Philippines).

We went out for dinner and found a nice little Italian cafe which had the nicest wine I’ve drank since I was in New Zealand – a mouth watering creamy chardonnay.
